What

Leisure Pass Group wanted to migrate their existing Android app to a cross-platform solution and as experienced Xamarin developers and with our unique Mobile Assurance Program already being implemented with their app we set to work on re-developing as well as improving the Go City Hub app.

Clean Code
Hybrid
Maintenance

Changing over code base from native to cross-platform can seem like a big step but by turning to a single code base ongoing maintenance can become so much easier. In rewriting the Go City Hub app in Xamarin we made sure that we cleaned up the code that builds up over the lifetime of apps. Cleaning the code to make the apps easier to maintain and faster was key to the value for Leisure Pass Group.

Why

By migrating over to a Xamarin code base we wanted to save time on all future development. Having only built an Android app previously, LPG were missing out on a huge chunk of the market and Xamarin would allow us to access both.

Saving Time
Audience Growth

Unlike other hybrid solutions the Xamarin apps perform like native apps. While measuring performance metrics such as load times, the results are all very similar to native solutions and since Xamarin’s launch in 2011 the gap has been narrowing. We predicted at least a 40% reduction in time and investment by going with the hybrid approach with Xamarin for all future maintenance and new features.

Wow

23% Increased Audience
40% Positive Review Increase

With the delivery of the new Xamarin app LPG have chosen to move across their other apps after being impressed with the new app and the reduction in maintenance budget required.

The App

MAP

Our original engagement with LPG was to provide MAP for their app's but after finding lots of issues in the first two rounds of testing we supported them making the decision that the maintenance of the Android app and then building a native iOS app wouldn't be cost effective vs moving to a hybrid solution.

Development

Building the app in Xamarin we managed to turn around the MVP within 3 months of development to take it to sample groups and allow for live user feedback on the functionality and feedback on where the product sat in our user groups world. This speed of development that also allowed us to deploy across Android and Apple allowed everyone to access the application and gave our internal Mobile Assurance team time to get testing the app across a huge suite of devices that our consumer market would be using.
